Fair Trade

Curious about Fair Trade? It can get pretty technical, but in short, it's the way trade is supposed to be handled. Why? Because it's the just, fair if you will, method of trading; between people, countries and continents.

Fair Trade
the White House (FTWH) has a quick and user-friendly tutorial and timeline on what, exactly, is fair trade?!

As set forth by the World Fair Trade Organization and the Fairtrade Labeling Organization, Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers. Fair Trade Organizations (backed by consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade.

For further understanding, FTWH also recommends perusing (in ABC order) Fair For Life (IMO), Fair Trade Federation, Fair Trade Resource Network, and Trans Fair USA.
